Novice CT: 35 in dressage, 1 rail down.
Training CT: 35 in dressage, 4 rails down (ughhhh)
The training dressage and the novice stadium were good, the only reason we knocked that rail down was because Finn was really looky and just tapped it down. The training dressage test should have been scored lower imo and in my trainers opinion. It definitely shouldn’t have gotten the same score that my novice test did. The training stadium was awwwfullll because Finn was tired and I suck so we just careened around the ring knocking fences left and right. My trainer said it didn’t look that bad but I felt like it was awful. Whatever, this is our first show in 2 years and our first time ever competing above BN height so I thought all in all it was pretty good. Finn was well behaved and didn’t try to kill me so he was a good boy overall. At least now we have stuff to work on (JUMPER SHOWS)

Finn and I had a really good ride tonight. Lots of stretching and bending and tracking up and using ourselves. Much better than crashing and burning and flailing around in the sand.

Yeah… long story short I was jumping through this really long one stride and I asked him to stretch out to get the right striding, he did but the footing on the other side was a little bit deep and since he was on his forehand he tripped and couldn’t catch himself and we both fell down :( We were both okay, I did basically a somersault and sat up in time to see Finn get up. I got a whole bunch of sand down my pants but otherwise I was minimally dirty, but Finn looked like he did a faceplant in the sand (sand all in his noseband, browband, and forelock) and then fell on his side. Poor pony. But I honestly thought he was going to flip over on me, luckily when he faceplanted or when he fell on his side he launched me like 3 feet to the side so I was out of the way. We both got up, I patted him a lot, then we trotted around for a little to make sure he wasn’t sore or anything, which he wasn’t. I was also letting him trot around on the buckle and was just petting him on his neck. Then we jumped a single jump and did the line as single jumps so I knew he wasn’t scared of them. He wasn’t even phased by the fall, he just jumped again like it was not a big deal. He is the bravest most forgiving most trusting pony in the whole world <3 I love him.

Finn gave me 3 front and back changes in a row on a figure 8 today!

So a HUGE thank you to those of you who explained to me how you ask for lead changes! It really helped us to try those ideas out :)

In other news, I rode Finn for the first time in 3 weeks and his skinny girth fit normally! I give him a weekend off and I almost tear my arms off trying just to get it on him, but I give him 3 weeks off and his girth fits comfortably on the second hole on both sides.

Makes sense right? No.

What Finn was thinking every time he looked at me in that video

It’s time to flip your computer screen 90 degrees because my horse is adorkable and you need to see it

Fun fact: My horse’s blaze looks like the silhouette of Uncle Boris the goose from Balto. Do you see it?

Finn made a friend today! <3

My horse is a dappled liver chestnut with a mixture of flaxen, chestnut, black and grey mane and tail hairs with 2 white socks, a black sock and a sock that is 1/2 black and 1/2 white.

I really want to know what my horse’s parents look like.
